Star Academic Scholarship Applications

The Star Academic Association will announce its 2012-2013 scholarships to students currently enrolled at Mary Star High School in grades 9-12 during February 2012. Applications will be available from Ms. Pichler.

Applicants must be a student in good academic and disciplinary standing and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (over all high school years and all classes). Recipients will be chosen from each grade level. Star Academic Scholarship winners currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 will receive the monetary award as a credit towards their 2011-2012 Mary Star tuition.

Graduating seniors will receive a direct payment of their scholarship award. All recipients will be announced at the annual Academic Awards Banquet in May.

Now Accepting Applications for 2011-2012 School Year

Mary Star of the Sea High School is now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year. Applications are available in your Catholic elementary school's main office, or you may download an application here.

Please turn in your fully completed application to your current Catholic elementary school. Please be sure that all your paperwork is filled out. You may also send your application to Mary Star of the Sea High School's Main office.

Raffle Tickets Due October 30

Please do not forget to sell your raffle tickets. All fall raffle tickets will be distributed October 8 and are due Thursday, October 29. The drawing will take place on November 5, 2009 Winner need not be present. Families will be billed for any unsold tickets.

(All families will recieve 20 tickets. Families are not obligated to sell these additional 20 tickets. However we appreciate any additional support given. If you have any questions regarding the sale of raffle tickets please contact the main office

Tropical Beach Bash Appreciation

We would like to thank all those who played a part in making the 7th Annual Tropical Beach Bash a Fun-Filled New Year’s Eve Celebration and a Great Success!

Live Entertainment was provided by the talented Bart Bollen on the Steel Drum, Mimmo Bologna as the “Italian Elvis”, and the very popular band “Hindsight” with lead singer Roni Iacono. The music was great and enjoyed by all!

A most sincere thank you to Father Anthony for the kind & warm words of appreciation, and for bringing our guests together in prayer. It was a special moment shared by everyone!

We truly appreciate all those who were able to join us for this fun-filled New Year’s Eve party. Because of the hard work and generosity of those mentioned above, The Beach Bash was a successful event!

Another Successful Cheer Camp Held at Mary Star

The 2008-2009 JV, Varsity and Dance Teams held their annual Cheer Camp on Saturday, October 18th. The Mary Star spirit squads hosted 45 young girls in an exciting Cheerleading workshop.

This is a great opportunity for prospective students and their parents to learn about the challenging and dynamic programs offered at Mary Star of the Sea High School. Have your questions answered, find out about the application process and recieve complete information packets. for more information please call the main office (310) 547-1138.

Placement Exam: Saturday, January 31, 2009, 7 AM in the Auditorium.

To be fully registered for the entrance exam, please submit a completed application packet, including the $75.00 application fee by January 26, 2009. Applications are available from your Catholic Elementary School, the Mary Star of the Sea High School Office, on line under the "Applications" tab.

The Placement Exam order of the day:

Arrive on SATURDAY, January 31, at 7 AM at 2500 N. Taper Ave. San Pedro CA 90731. Meet in the Auditorium. Parents and families are welcome.

Join us for a continental breakfast at 7:30 AM in the auditorium. Parents and families are welcome.

The Entrance Test begins at 8 AM in the school classrooms. Do not bring anything with you: all pencils, scratch paper, etc. will be provided. The use of calculators is not permitted. The test will end around 11:45 AM. Please plan to pick up students around 11:45 AM.

Tutoring

All teachers are available for tutoring. Contact teachers individually to set up schedules.

Academic Counseling

Contact Dr. Dever for Grade 9, Mr. O’Keeffe for Grade 10 and Ms. Pichler for Grades 11 and 12.
