In partnership with the United States Army, our students hosted a Veterans’ Day celebration on November 10th in honor of the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to protecting our nation. Without their dedication, our nation would not posses the freedoms and liberties that we have been given. The Knights of Columbus presented the colors and Colonel John Jaacks, spoke to the students about the sacrifices made in the service. His speech called to mind those who had been lost in combat and the families of veterans who also give immensely in the betterment of our country. He ended his speech in thanking the students because they are worth fighting for. Mr. Spincola, junior religion teacher, was also in the service. He spoke on the commitment made by all the servicemen and women who work to make America a better place. Sea Scout Edward Molio’o, Marine Corp JROTC Martha Lopez, LAPD Cadet Anthony White, and Junior Officers Analina and Brianna Palmer all participated in the setting of the white table, which is a ceremonial remembrance of those who are Prisoners Of War or Missing In Action. The ceremony concluded with Harmon Marinkovich playing TAPS on his trumpet as the students respectfully stood in silence. Thank you to all who participated in this ceremony and a special thank you to all our veterans.
