One Life LA was an incredible experience that over 100 Mary Star students and several dedicated faculty members participated in. Over 15,000 pro lifers from across the LA area marched under the theme, "Made for Greater", as we must pursue our call to greatness by celebrating, protecting, and embracing the beauty and dignity of all human life. Live music performances along with personal witness talks kickstarted the march. Mary Star students were able to proudly walk near the front, holding posters with such messages as "Pray to End Abortion", "Made for Greater", and "Peace Begins in the Womb". Banners of Our Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ billowed in the wind and served as a visible reminder that God is on our side and in the end He will prevail. It was so awesome to march through the streets of Downtown LA surrounded by a sea of God's witnesses that shine the light of life into this dark world. The walk concluded at the LA State Historic Park, where excellent speakers and food trucks awaited us. The speakers ranged from our wonderful Archbishop Gomez to Karen Gaffney who has Down Syndrome but founded a nonprofit that works for full inclusion of those with disabilities into their communities to well known actress Patricia Heaton, who has starred in Everybody Loves Raymond, The Middle, and Mom's Night Out, and is a passionate pro lifer and Catholic living out her faith in Hollywood. It was such a blessing that Mary Star students were given this opportunity and we can not wait for more Mary Star students to join us next year! We march because abortion stops one heart and breaks another. We march because adoption is the loving option. We march because we are the pro life generation.
