Greetings!
My name is Mr. Ryan Espe and I teach Intro to Algebra I, Algebra I, and Consumer Mathematics. This is my 1st year teaching at Mary Star and 18th year as a Catholic school teacher. Prior to my arrival at Mary Star, my journey as a Catholic school educator began in 2005 at Bishop Montgomery High School. In 6 years I taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Honors Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Honors Algebra II. I then taught one year of Algebra I at St. John Bosco High School and have spent the last 10 years at Nativity Catholic School teaching Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Foundations of Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I. While at Nativity, I also created and implemented the Robotics Program where students engaged in STEM/STEAM projects.
Outside of the classroom, I've coached all levels of basketball. While at Bishop Montgomery High School I coached boys JV, girl's Frosh/Soph, and Varsity levels. At Nativity Catholic School I coached the Boys and Girls Varsity teams. In 8 years of coaching at Nativity we won 4 Open Division championships, 1 Navy Division championship, and reached either the final four or championship game 7 or 8 years. Basketball is just one of many sports that teach so many life lessons to our young men and women and is another aspect of student life I am passionate about.
Even in year 18, I still love what I do. Every year is a new beginning and no two days are ever the same. Being an educator is something I am very passionate about and truly believe that a Catholic education is an advantage for life. I'm looking forward to another great year and I'm excited for what is to come this school year!

I am available for tutoring Monday thru Thursday from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm (except on special schedule days), and Fridays at Academic Support from 12:30 to 1:30.
