This $1,000 scholarship celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Lions Club is open to seniors who have shown a commitment to service in the local community. Essays will be reviewed by members of the SP Lions Club scholarship committee. Please submit entries by April 29th.

Attached you will find the application for the ILWU Scholarship Award. There will be three recipients of $500 scholarships at MSHS. Please read carefully the eligibility requirements, application steps, and selection criteria. Please let me know if you have any questions. All applications are due by Tuesday, April 26th. Submit your applications to the counseling office or the front office. Winners will be presented their award at our Senior Academic Awards Ceremony. Only children of ILWU 13 are ineligible. Children of other workers unions may still apply.

The SPGC is providing $2,000 in scholarship money for a student who can complete a convincing essay about how they are invested in addressing environmental challenges and using natural resources responsibly. In addition to this, applicants must:
- plan to attend college/university this Fall 2022
- major in an environmentally related field (see flyer for examples).
The due date is April 26th by 3:00pm and you should submit your application and essay to the counseling office. This is a local scholarship, so you will be competing against a relatively small pool of students. I have paper copies of the application if you prefer. Best of luck!

The Rotary Club of San Pedro is offering three generous scholarships to high school students in San Pedro. Please see the link below and apply to one or more of the scholarships, as appropriate. Below you can find a description of all three scholarships. The page linked below also has links to fill out the Google Form required for each scholarship. The deadline for all three is April 12th at 5:00pm. Please let me know if you need help filling out the application(s).
The Ernie Houser Scholarship
The Ernie Houser Fund is a vocational scholarship initiated by a former member of our club, Mr. Ernie Houser. This helpful is awarded annually to one student planning to attend college or a trade school and is pursuing a career in a vocational field (i.e., nursing, electrician, plumber, beautician, etc).
The Joe Viola Memorial Scholarship
Joseph “Joe” Viola was a member of the Rotary Club of San Pedro and a lifelong Educator. He retired as Principal of San Pedro High School in 1994. Upon his passing in 2018, his family established this generous memorial scholarship in his name.
This scholarship recognizes that there is more to success than a high GPA and that students who may not be at the top of their class academically also deserve the opportunity for success.
The and is awarded to a student in the San Pedro/Harbor community who will be furthering their education at a Community College, University, or Vocational/Trade School.
The Uncle Joe Evans Fund
This scholarship fund was established by a bequest of Joseph G. Evans, M.D., a San Pedro Rotarian in memory of his wife, Mildred.
The is available first to the children of present or past members of the San Pedro Rotary Club and second to any student of San Pedro. It is open to any student in primary school, high school, college, university, advanced study, artistic or cultural studies, exchange programs, or the American Field Service.

Make sure you are completing the FAFSA application accurately and completely to get as much assistance as you are entitled to. The average amount of aid awarded per applicant is $3,900.00.
