You are to write a 2 page letter from Charlie Marlow to:

1. His Aunt describing his experience in the Congo
or
2. "The Company" In this letter he would either complain about his experience or try to spin his experience as positive in order to keep his job

Choose 2 pieces of literature where the setting plays a significant role. For each, list ways in which the setting contributes to it's meaning or effect.

Today’s story, “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker, focuses on the relationships we hold to our own cultural identity and practices. Do you feel connected to your heritage? Are there specific practices, customs, or traditions that you still carry out with your family? Do you feel at all distanced or disconnected from your heritage? Do you think that holding onto cultural customs and traditions is important in our world today? Explain your answers in a brief 7-10 sentence paragraph.

Using the attached format, complete and finalize your List of Achievements and turn that in by the end of the day!

Analyze the following lines from the bible - So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 1 John 4:16

This biblical quote served as inspiration for our story that we will cover today. In your own words, what does this passage mean and what is its significance? If we are making predictions about possible plot points/ potential themes our story for today, Flannery O’Connor’s “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, what could these predictions be?

This will be the format for breaking down important information regarding all major works we cover in class this year. We will cover the format today, and you will be completing a MWDS for The Road. This will be due one week from today (Thursday, 9/1). We will have time throughout the next week to work on these in class, so please be sure to bring your copy of the novel!

With your group, follow the instructions on the attached document to complete your assignment in class today. You and your group members may work collaboratively on the same document, however, you must each turn in a copy of the assignment to this posting.
