You and your group will be assigned a specific literary element of The Road to focus on and create a short slides presentation for. Each of these topics will be covered on your quiz this Friday, so we will informally share these presentations at the end of class to help us review! Your short presentation is due to Google Classroom by the end of the day today, but we should be able to finish in class!

I will assign your group a topic in class. Below is the list of topics and the requirements for each topic:

Topic 1 ~ Cormac McCarthy’s life and influences:
Slide 1: Brief overview of McCarthy’s literary career. (4-5 sentences)
Slide 2: Overview of McCarthy’s married life and thoughts on how that could have affected the relationship between the mother and father in The Road. (4-5 sentences)
Slide 3: Cormac McCarthy’s experiences as a father, and how that ties into his representation of the boy in The Road. (4-5 sentences)
Slide 4: Sociopolitical influences - how could The Road have been inspired by what was happening in the world at the time of its writing and publication (9/11, the Iraq war) (4-5 sentences)

Topic 2 ~ Biblical Allusions:

Slide 1: Brief overview of what biblical allusions are and why they are significant in literature. (4-5 sentences)
