This page of the teacher's website is used to update you on the latest homework assignments, online activities and due dates for all required coursework. Success in Biology is done by consistent use of this website and turning in all required work on time! Biology enables students to develop an understanding of the role of science in society, and the world, by mastering the scientific method of inquiry, while investigating living systems. It is designed to present the student with the fundamental concepts of biology. Topics include, but are not limited to, the scientific method, cell theory, basic biochemistry, genetics and heredity, evolutionary theory, and a survey of representative living systems. This course also involves extensive hands-on laboratory activities. Emphasis will be on allowing students to gain preparation for further study of the sciences. Requirements include a complete dissection of a crayfish and frog.

Please bring your fast food menus and your food labels to class this week.
Due:
Assignment
All students have been working on a "comic" mapping of the process of making ATPs. There are four required parts to this assignment. This material was taught through storytelling- thus the pictures and words used on this project should utilize these stories. This material is based on Chapter 9 of the Miller and Levine Biology textbook. Use color and creativity to show your story.
Due:
Assignment
Students need to bring in two different things to class today for a grade:
1. A nutrition label from a processed food that the child eats on a consistent basis.
2. A nutrition menu from a fast food restaurant.
These will be used in our study of energy usage in cells and in healthy choices for the student.

Students, using Chapter 1.3, will construct a creative smaller poster based on the characteristics of life. Students may use any picture or drawing to illustrate the 7 basic characteristics of living things (NO GLITTER, PLEASE! ). Please remember that any homework turned in late during the second semester will be penalized 50%. Please turn your homework in on time. Thank you.
Due:

This is to notify all parents concerning the work found on the google sites project.
After having looked at the project I have noticed a number of difficulties in the projects. Any number of these could drastically change the grade on their projects. They include:
1. Many students have been cutting and pasting information on their websites. This will cause a plagiarism problem. The ideas must be in their own words
2. Many students have not cited information or pictures properly
3. The recent activity page shows that most projects have not been done in a consistent work cycle
This project is worth over 100 pts. Please take the time to correct and finish this most important project.
