Pre-read the last two sections of Chapter 10 and the first section of Chapter 11 for today's class.

For today's class, pre-read 7.1.  The guided reading worksheet distributed yesterday is not due today but will be beneficial if you have completed it by class time.

Chapter 5/6 test.  All Chapter 5 Guided Reading worksheets due in class today.

Students will be working on finalizing their essays for the DAR essay contest.  Please use OWL at Purdue to make corrections in your bibliography.  There is a General Format section as well as sections for various specific types of sources.  If you have additional questions about creating your bibliography, please see your English teacher for assistance.

Be prepared for class today.  Pre-read Chapter 5, sections 3 & 4, bring colored pencils, textbook, and your binder to class. 

NOTE:  Next week is Homecoming Week.  If you miss any classes, please speak with me to get any handouts you missed and get notes from a classmate.

Please read 5.1 and 5.2 for today's class.  We will be working on foldables as well, so bring colored pencils, etc. as needed.

If you missed class on Tuesday, you can pick up the guided reading worksheets for 5.1 and 5.2 today in class.

Christopher Columbus Essay Contest rough draft due today in class and submitted to turnitin.com.

Renaissance art comparison assignment due today. Refer to Tuesday, September 24's post to view the PowerPoint and assignment details.

1. Review the PowerPoint that was shown in class on Monday.  Select two works of art from the PowerPoint or your textbook, one from an Italian Renaissance artist and one from a Northern Renaissance artist.  Compare the two works.  Are there similarities?  Differences?  Write 2-3 paragraphs.  Be sure to include basic info about the pieces in your assignment (name of work, name of artist, when created).  The assignment is due on THURSDAY.
2. If not already turned in, the following assignment is due today.  Use excellent writing skills including complete sentences for your answers.  Page 113, # 6-9; page 125 #6-8; page 126 #1-4.  These were assigned last Friday.

Please work on your Columbus essay! The deadline for the rough draft is Monday, September 30.  

In preparation for today's class, please pre-read Chapter 3, section 1.  

Bring textbook, notebook, and colored pencils to class today.

Read Chapter 1, Sections 1 and 2 in preparation for today's class.  Be sure to have colored pencils with you as well.
