Course Description

Welcome to Beginning Dance and Health! Please see attached for the Course Policy Statement and the PE & Fine Arts Department Policy Update. We will go over both in class.

Croquis #2 (20pts) - Due Wednesday, 11/13

Your second croquis will be due Wednesday, 11/13. Please be sure to complete all three stages, with your third stage including all details, color shading and a Point of Light.

Dance Research Assignment (50 pts) - Due Wednesday, 10/30

Your Dance Research Projects will be due on Wednesday, 10/30 by the start of class.
To submit, you do not have to turn in a hard copy--all you need to do is share the Google Slide file (located on the top right corner of your working document--yellow button that reads, "Share") with me by the due date. 
 
Please note that you will present your projects in class on Wednesday, 10/30. Come prepared to give a 3-5 minute presentation on your topic.

Ballet Evaluations - Wednesday, 10/23

This Wednesday will be your Ballet Evaluation. You will be evaluated on the following:
  1. 1st-5th positions
  2. Tendu (with counts)
  3. Dégagé (with counts)
  4. Chaine Turn (single and double)
  5. Pique Turn (single and double)
  6. Front Leap (with counts)
  7. Side Leap (with counts)
Before evaluations begin, we will review as a class.
Any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask!

Last Day to Turn in Late Work - Friday, 10/18

The last day to turn in any late work for the Quarter is on Friday, 10/18. Please note, grades are due on Monday, 10/21.

School Email and Password - Due Tuesday, 10/15

On Tuesday, 10/15 you will show that you have your school email and password handy as you will need this information consistently throughout your Dance Research Project. Please be sure to have this information easily accessible if you have not memorized it already.
 
**Students will not be allowed to access this information through the office during the class period at any point during this project. 

3-Progression Croquis - Due Monday, 10/14

Your first 3-Progression Croquis will be due Monday, 10/14 at the start of class.

Be sure your croquis has the following:
Stage 1 - Outline of body only. Pay close attention to proportion and guidelines in this stage.
Stage 2 - Outline of body plus the addition of clothes.
State 3 - Croquis looks the closest to your model--full detail, shading, and a Point of Light. Guidelines should be removed in this stage. 

2-Progression Croquis - Due Monday, 9/30

2-Progression Croquis sketches are due on Monday, 9/30. Be sure that your assignment includes two models (one that is more of a 'rough draft' and the second is more fully figured, smoother details). Please, no color on these assignments.

Color Wheel and Mandala Handouts - Due Friday, 9/6

The Color Wheel and Mandala Handout is due at the start of class on Friday, 9/6.
 
Color Wheel - be sure to include a "point of light" when shading.
Mandala - be sure to first choose your "BASE" color, "ACCENT", then "COMPLIMENTARY" (opposite color of the BASE on the color wheel).

'All About Me' Handout - Due Monday, 8/26

Hi Ladies!
 
If you did not finish the "All About Me" handout in class, please turn it in on Monday, 9/26.

Coat of Arms - Due Monday, 8/26

The Coat of Arms assignment will be classwork on Thursday, 8/22 and Friday, 8/23. They will be due at the start of class on 8/26.
 
Be sure they are full of color and information requested. This is your time to start tapping into your creative space!

P.E. Uniform and P.E. Lock due Wednesday, 8/28

P.E. Uniforms (purchased from Normans) and P.E. Locks (purchased through Mrs. Alves in the Finance Office) by Wednesday, 8/28. Points are given for each of these items, be sure to have them for class.

Art Supplies due Wednesday, 8/21

There will be an art supply check on Wednesday, 8/21. Please be sure to have the following: pencil, separate eraser, ruler (clear, if possible), glue stick, and colored pencils (24-pack).
