MLA FORMAT: An effective conclusion for an essay reminds your readers of the strength and impact of your argument. Concluding statements can also help to refocus the reader's attention on the most important points supporting evidence of your arguments or position that you presented in your research. Conclusions can also serve as a basis for continuing research, creating new ideas to resolve an issue you highlighted in your paper or offering new approaches to a topic.
An effective research paper conclusion:
Stresses the importance of your thesis statement
Gives your essay a sense of completeness
Leaves a final impression on the reader...or a changed mind:)

Claim, Line of Reasoning, Evidence (CRE)
Your claim is your main argument. Let’s say that in the exam part where you identify a theme and make an argument is your claim. A claim would be something like: “Whoever controls people’s perception of time controls their lives.” (Far fetched but I think it was the one I used) The line of reasoning is what got you to that conclusion. Here you can include evidence to support your line of reasoning. “Time zones often change peoples sleeping habits and their perception of the duration of a day. Hence part of their daily lives.” This is a line of reasoning that leads to your claim. Your evidence is where this idea comes from. In terms of the time zone thing, you would use the stimulus material offered. “The notion that time zones can affect daily lives and lead to control them is seen or explained in x article written by y in the following quote. Your evidence backs up the line of reasoning which holds your claim.
Your line of reasoning should have different perspectives to legitimately support a claim. Add counter arguments and use evidence to prove them right or wrong. Acknowledging counter arguments and refuting them is super useful. Make sure that your perspectives in your line of reasoning are well connected and make sense to have your claim be bigger than the sum of its parts. In any case, the more of the stimulus materials you use, the better. My teacher taught us to use everything, or at least three. . Avoid flowery text and be direct. Good luck!

(300-400 words) An introduction is the initial part of a research paper and the part that a reader is likely to read first (at least when focusing deeply and reading it in detail). Hence, definitions, notions, and other information required for understanding the paper are presented/listed here.
Every IRR paper needs context so that readers can understand why you have created it. This is exactly what you can do in your research paper introduction. Of course, this can mean that your introduction is the hardest part of an essay to write first. So, it is essential that you take your time and make sure you get it right.
The introduction of writing is going to set out your rationale, which is what research will be based around. Your readers should be able to tell what they are reading right from the beginning and whether it interests them.
It is essential that you make the beginning of your research paper interesting and engage with your readers (have a hook) from the first line. This will make sure that people continue to read and learn about what you have found out. You should also state a hypothesis and the way you think your work will turn out in conclusion
Rubric Introduction:
What is your Thesis Statement?
What is your HOOK?
What is your Research Question?
What is your Background Information? Does it have cited information?
What are your lenses for the body of your paper?

Presentation Thursday!
Due:
It is essential that you make the beginning of your research paper interesting and engage with your readers from the first line. This will make sure that people continue to read and learn about what you have found out. You should also state a hypothesis and the way you think your work will turn out in conclusion
