Modern World History (Period 5)
Course Description
Course Overview:
This course is designed in line with the California Department of Education Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies for grade ten. The class will examine history from the period of The Renaissance and Reformation through the twentieth century focusing on; historical, geographic, political, economic, and cultural contexts. The analysis of current international events will also be included in the course of study and to encourage students to be global citizens. The text used for the course is designed to help guide students to see the interactions between peoples within a hemisphere and across the globe. Students will develop an array of skills which are imperative in studying history including: researching, identifying patterns, reading maps, interpreting graphic representation of data and creating compositions to express their ideas and findings.
