It took a tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena with Mrs. Marinac’s senior calculus class from Mary Star to help Paul Banicevic realize he wanted to become an engineer. Following graduation from Mary Star in 1999, Paul attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering. He then worked for ATK Space Systems in Goleta, CA designing solar arrays and deployable structures for spacecraft. Two years after joining ATK, Paul moved across the country in 2007 to fulfill his dream of working for NASA. Located at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, Paul has been busy working on a multitude of spaceflight projects, including interplanetary missions to Mars and the replacement for the Space Shuttle.
